Situated in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh lies India’s Highest Embankment Dam and one of the first hydroelectricity projects in the country established in 1975. Pong Dam is also home to Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering & Allied Sports (ABVIMAS)’s Regional Water Sports Training Centre,

This Institution was founded in 1961 by the name of Himalayan Mountaineering Institute and later changed the name to commemorate Late Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the establishment holds a hostel, a huge mess and a small tourist camp along with the huge training centre. The Regional Water Sports Training centre has three levels of courses Basic, Intermediate & Advanced and teaching an array of different water sports like Kayaking, Jet Skiing, hydro foiling, Canoeing, Wave Boarding, Sailing, Wave Surfing, Rowing & Swimming and is training and sending players for International Tournaments allowing them to show their talent, the Instructors are the most experienced and some of them have represented India in  Various International Events as well! Some Hold International RecordsToo!

So if you are looking to upgrade your skill under India’s foremost water sports players this is the place. The duration of the Basic Course is just 15 days and costs you about 15k INR for everything lodging, boarding & food along with all the training & safety equipment, Ain’t that a Steal!
